AIM OF THE PROJECT
The main goal of the project is optimization of synthesis and spectroscopic properties of two different fluoride matrices doped with Yb3+ and Tm3+ ions. Doping with this pair of ions allows to obtain up-conversion luminescence that means emission at higher energy than the excitation energy. In the material containing these ions we can excite ytterbium with near infrared NIR radiation at 980 nm length of light then the transfer this energy to thulium ions higher energy states occurs. There are several of energy transfer mechanisms that allow obtaining the luminescence from UV through visible to infrared emission from Yb3+-Tm3+ pair. We expect an enhancement of up-conversion luminescence upon modification of synthesis conditions and doping ions concentration, leading to efficient NIR excited luminophores.
