In recent years, much attention has been paid to develop strategies for increasing regenerative potential of societies, especially in the context of population aging. For rebuilding damaged tissues or organs and improving the quality and length of life, regenerative medicine focuses on developing efficient factors which might increase a regenerative potential of the organism throughout mobilization of stem cells (e.g. very small embryonic/epiblast like stem cells, VSELs, hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, HSCPs and mesenchymal stem cells, MSCs) from bone marrow to the peripheral blood. VSELs, which are found in various adult tissues, are taken under consideration with the hope that they might replace embryonic stem cells and find the application in clinical practice.
We offer a method for significant increase of mobilization of VSELs, HSCPs and MSCs to peripheral blood. Obtained data indicate a positive impact of exercises and/or administration of our specific compound on the number of VSELs, HSCPs and MSCs, as well as VSELs pluripotency and multipotency, as measured by the favourable change in expression pattern of specific genes.
Offered method potentiates the regenerative potential of the body by increasing the number of pluripotent and multitpotent stem cells from adult tissues in peripheral blood. The applied compound is an approved human drug, therefore the risk of failure in a safety study is greatly reduced.
