C2POWER - Cognitive radio and Cooperative strategies for POWER saving in multi-standard wireless devices
EU FP7 type STREP project financed by the European Commission from the 7th Framework Program (FP7-ICT- 248577):
Project duration: Jan 2010 - Dec 2012
The C2POWER consortium develops novel radio technologies, the aim of which is to increase energy efficiency in multi-mode mobile terminals by the application of cognitive and cooperative techniques. The ICT RC team focuses on the development of technologies in two areas:
a) algorithms and protocols for short-range communications by the application of cooperative technologies for energy efficiency in mobile terminals
b) algorithms and protocols for vertical hand-over to optimize energy consumption in multi-mode mobile terminals
Specific tasks where ICT RC is involved:
WP2 Scenarios, system architecture and business models
Task 2.1 Detailed C2POWER technical scenarios
Task 2.2 System architecture definition and performance evaluation metrics
Task 2.3 Business models and incentive mechanisms for cooperation
WP5 Cooperative short range communications for power saving
Task 5.1 Study and definition of cooperative strategies and policies for power saving
Task 5.3: Investigations of cooperative relaying for power saving
Task 5.4: Development of models and implementation of a system level simulation platform
WP6 Energy-efficient cognitive handovers procedures and policies
Task 6.1: Energy efficient handover algorithms
Task 6.2: Handover between macro and femto-cells
Task 6.3: Platform implementation for energy efficient handovers
WP8 Standardization and Dissemination
Task 8.1: Dissemination
Task 8.2: Standardisation and Exploitation
